A platform mobilising partnerships and strengthening social cohesion.
The Sudan Solidarity Board (SSB) is envisioned as a flagship initiative of the Sudan Policy Advisory Group, creating a platform through which Sudanese communities, civil society, institutions, the diaspora and international partners can come together around shared national priorities. It builds on SPAG’s commitment to solidarity as a basis for unity, mutual support and collective action.
The Board will seek to mobilise partnerships, expertise and resources in support of initiatives that strengthen communities and contribute to Sudan’s recovery and sustainable development. Particular attention will be given to connecting actors who can contribute knowledge, institutional support and practical solutions, while encouraging collaboration across geographic, social and professional boundaries.
A central purpose of the initiative will be to strengthen social cohesion and inclusive participation. Through dialogue, community engagement and collaborative initiatives, the Board will seek to create spaces where diverse perspectives can meet, common priorities can be identified and relationships of trust can be strengthened. Its approach will recognise the importance of including communities and groups whose voices may otherwise be underrepresented.
The Sudan Solidarity Board will also provide a framework for collective action during periods of heightened national need, helping connect relevant partners and capabilities around community support, resilience and recovery. In doing so, it aims to translate solidarity from a principle into practical cooperation — bringing Sudanese expertise at home and abroad together with partners committed to a more cohesive, resilient and inclusive Sudan.
Work is currently underway to develop the Board’s operating framework, partnership model and initial programme of activities. Further information will be announced as the initiative progresses.
